I have so much to tell about the amazing opportunity we had to travel across the Arabian Penninsula in the last few weeks. My plan is to tell a little bit at a time, and to hopefully be able to share the most interesting stories and pictures.
Bethany ended up having to have a surgery on her arm, which wasn’t healing right (she broke it falling out of a tree at the beginning of February). The surgery happened Thurs, Feb 11, the day before we were scheduled to leave, so we ended up delaying the trip for a day, which, remarkably, did not require any shifting of arrangements because of a scheduling error which had us arriving in Wadi Ram a day later than we thought. (Would have been a problem if we had left on schedule!)
Here are Bethany and kit with their new casts after Bethany’s surgery. (Don’t worry–Bethany’s cast is not made of masking tape like kit’s is!)
So I’ll be telling more about our adventures, which were notably un-adventurelike in the way everything went so smoothly. (I mean, there were a few ‘almosts’ that could have been more adventurous, but ‘almost’ doesn’t really count.) For now, I’m grateful for the ways that vacations make you so glad to be home again and endear you to all those mundane, daily activities and details that you were so tired of before leaving. I’m also immensely grateful to have been welcomed home so lovingly by friends-like-family here in Bahrain.
More to come soon….
